Born in Houston, Texas, the
last of six children, John W. Tigert lost his father at the age of
nine. Raised with good morals, belief in God, and a mother’s
strong will, the foundation was laid for John’s passage into
manhood sooner than most.
As a teenager,
country and western music played in the background at home or in
the car. Naturally John rebelled and started a rock and roll
band. John’s drive and love for music earned him a “full-ride”
music scholarship. He attended San Jacinto College in Houston
where he studied voice, guitar and computer technology.
In an unexpected
turn of events along the way, John went to sing karaoke one
night while out with some of his buddies. On a dare, John sang
“I Love The Way You Love Me” which met with an overwhelming
response from the bar crowd, and in turn, changed John’s musical
direction toward country. He revamped his band to travel the
country roads for the next five years.
John Tigert’s
music is straight up, sturdy and honest. A singer, songwriter
and MOSTLY self-taught musician (proficient on lead and acoustic
guitars, mandolin, bass, drums, and piano), John pulls sounds
from all over the musical map. He accredits his artistic style
to the music he listened to as a teenager, “Elton John AND Billy
Joel taught me passion. Queensr˙che led me to my
vocal ABILITY, and Ozzy and Kiss taught me how to rock a show”.
John moved to Nashville to
return to the roots of county music. Since then with a compilation
of writes and co-writes from 10 independently recorded projects
over the course of 10 years, John is getting ready to release his
first national debut "COMING HOME, BACK TO MY
ROOTS" WHICH is a 13-song rollercoaster ride.
“Coming Home” The first
radio single was inspired as a
message of comfort to all of those families who have loved ones in
Iraq. “After performing ‘Coming Home’ at a show, I had the
opportunity to visit with a Sgt. in the National Guard who came
through the meet and greet line,” John continued. “The soldier
looked me straight in the eye and said ‘when military men and
women demonstrate excellence in service in the field, they are
honored with a medal as a token of that excellence. I want to
present this to you, my medal AND my hat as my appreciation to you
for sharing this song with all of us’. "SO NOW, I am doing what I
am meant to do” SAY'S JOHN.
